Ohiopyle State Park has so many great activities for you and your dog. The mountainous area is filled with beautiful views, winding trails, and exciting watersports. It is important always to check the weather before you go to Ohiopyle, as surprise storms and rain are quite common. In mid-August of last year, Ohiopyle State Park experienced an extremely severe storm, knocking out power, blocking roads and trails, and creating hazards throughout the river and park. Several popular areas and trails were closed for clean-up as park crews scrambled to clear down trees and debris. Additionally, like all public lands, some areas are closed for environmental reasons, hazardous conditions, or maintenance.
To ensure you are up-to-date on park activity before you visit with your pup, be sure to check out the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Ohiopyle Alerts page. This valuable resource provides current information for dangerous areas, invasive species, fire advisories, and information related to park restrictions.
